Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome to Standish Lower Ground St Anne's C of E Primary School.
It is a privilege and pleasure to be the Headteacher at this wonderful school. Since taking over in September 2023, it has been fantastic to get to know the children and their families and feel part of this very special school community. The children of St Anne's make every day a special one. They are kind, polite and caring, and they make us and their families proud. The staff in school are loving, enthusiastic and dedicated, and work extremely hard to ensure the children enjoy life in school and help them 'to shine their light.'
Our school's mission is rooted in the teachings of Jesus.
Matthew 5:16 'In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.'
The school was inspected in July 2023 under the SIAMs framework, which evaluates a school's distinctive Christian vision. The inspection was very successful.
'School leaders have established a Christian vision which truly reflects the local context, inspiring a welcoming, diverse community. Leaders at all levels are motivated by the vision to ‘nurture, grow and achieve’. Therefore, pupils, including those considered to be vulnerable, flourish.'
Our last Ofsted inspection in November 2024, judged St Anne's to be a good school in all areas. Ofsted recognised the team effort that goes into making our school the best it can be and said:
Pupils are happy and positive about being part of this school. The report also recognised the children were enthusiastic about experiences in school such as watching an orchestra perform, a visit to the Snow Factore and watching Wigan Youth Orchestra play to the Raymond Bigg's classic, The Snowman.
The last academic year at St Anne's was a busy one and the children were able to enjoy a wide range of enrichment activities. We had another successful Macmillan Coffee morning and a poetry day with the wonderful Ian Bland. Lots of children took part in sporting events and Y3 enjoyed watching The Wild Robot at the cinema. The infants loved their train ride to meet Father Christmas and his elves and petting animals at Windmill Farm. The spring term saw our Year 4 perform at Chetham's School of Music. We were lucky to meet Olympic bronze medallist rower, Emily Ford, and loved showing her how fit we all were completing circuits on the playground. We also took part in a litter pick in the local community organised by the Tidy Britain Group. In summer, the children watched a performance of Pinocchio in school and the juniors enjoyed completing the Three Peaks of Rivington. We had a fabulous day walking up to Winter Hill, the Tow Lads and ate our lunch at Rivington Pike.
We are looking forward to another great year at St Anne's...with lots more love, laughter and learning.
If you would like to visit the school at any time, please contact the school office. It would be our pleasure to show you around our wonderful school.
